Carola von Seherr-Thoss is a trained actress, lecturer and coach for acting, speaking and presentation. In recent years she has turned intensively to painting. A central theme of hers is the “interaction of the images” with each other, as well as scenic – dialogical aspects in the visual world to transfer and further develop.
The photographer Christoph Knoch shows his photo tableau “MAR DEL PLASTICO”. In contrast to a journalistic or reportage approach, reality is the starting point for him to create autonomous images and to deal with the design principles of photography and the possibilities of abstraction.

One has to encircle and for the time being eliminate the clichés that are already lurking in the forecourt of perception. These are prejudices and expectations that include art historical categories such as expressionism or biographical pigeonholes such as painting actress. But once one has opened one’s eyes and perceived the picture, the third task presents itself: one has to admit the part of the clichés that has been confirmed by the gaze.

From March 21 to March 31, 2019, Carola von Seherr-Thoss presents for the first time in Hall 50 of the Domagkateliers paintings created over the past six years. The image came after the sound: she has been working with the voice for over 30 years, today as a lecturer at the August Everding Theater Academy and as a coach for actors, speakers, presenters and executives, and earlier also as a singer. However, her interest in visual expression has shaped her since the mid-1980s, when she was still working as an actress – initially as a viewer, and since 2013 also as a painter in a studio in Beuerberg near Munich.
